We first understand the product mix (LED, Automotive, consumer, Telecom) & study the board size range, component types (0402, 0201, BGA, QFN) , monthly volume (current & 2 yr-projections), changeover frequency & then check for required CPH, accuracy class & Line Configurations (1 vs. Multi Mounters)
Then we decide on the line configuration keeping in view the nature of AOI required (Inline vs Semi/Auto), future expansion space & conveyor compatibility.
Once line configuration is decided, then we proceed for selection of Equipment vendor who can provide us as per our requirement. Further evaluation criteria depend on installed base in India, spare part availability, Local service team strength, Response time (actual), software usability.
Next we perform live demonstration of customer PCB. We check feeder compatibility, software program compatibility & changeover time demonstration. Here we measure Actual vs Claimed CPH & placement accuracy on fine pitch
Here we perform breakdown analysis of pricing offered by vendor into Machine cost, Installation & Training cost, Spare cost, Warranty (Min 1 year), AMC after warranty. Here we negotiate on free initial spare kit, 2~3 visits free after installation & payment terms.
This phase is most critical before machine arrival. Here we ensure site is ready for machine installation w.r.t power, air, environment & layout
Ensuring Machine is delivered, moved to the production floor & installed on the line . Need to check for machine levelling, air & electrical connections & software set-up.
Here we dry run the machine without pcb & make a sample PCB. We check fiducial recognition, nozzle condition, placement offsets & feeder performance during this stage. We fine tune for pick up height, placement force & vision alignment.
First of all we verify the packing list against the actual items delivered by the supplier. Machine specs are verified as per ordered & received along with machine accessories like feeders, nozzles, cables & manuals.
Before machine opening, we first verify power, air, environment & space for starting machine placing activity on line. When all of the above factors are verified, then we proceed further.
We move the machines to the line using pallet truck & place as per approved line layout. In case of new line set-up, first we start with Mounter placement on line & then align other upstream & downstream equipment accordingly.
We use precision levelling tools & adjust machine legs properly. We believe levelling is first & foremost important part of new line installation & has a high impact on overall Machine performance during Production.
Now, we connect the mains & check phase sequence & voltage stability. Along with this Air & other machine to machine connections are also connected.
Once connections are done, power ON the machines, verify the Machine software & performing axis homing to verify all machines are ready to operate in Auto Mode during Production.
